Time Keeps on Slippin'... Into the Future
It's amazing how fast the time moves with a new baby in the house. My best laid plans to post on the blog at least once a week with updates seems to have slid right out the window and I realize that it's already been a month since we were blessed with our little miss Aurora Jane.
A lot can happen in a months time and our little girl is growing by leaps and bounds daily. Here's a little snap shot of what we've been up to lately:

Here are a couple of gems that I found on Bryan's phone earlier in the week. These are the only images that we have of our baby girl the night that she was born.

One thing that I didn't know about babies was that they have "grandma" hands when they are first born. These pictures almost show just how wrinkled and thin her little fingers were at the beginning. They filled out quickly and now they look totally normal.
| Check out those wrinkly hands! |
| Each little finger had a small dimple at the top on her hand. So cute! |
I was initially worried when I was pregnant that my little girl would be so big that she wouldn't be able to wear any of the cute newborn size clothes that our friends and family had bought for her. Luckily she came out just the right size and managed to wear her newborn clothes for about 3-4 weeks. One of our favorites was the little stripped sleeper pj's that Judy Davis gave her. (She wore this little outfit a lot because it was so easy to get on and off.)

Look at all that extra room in this outfit! It won't last very long...

Just one month later and she barely fits in this adorable outfit...

Because our little lady was born at Charleston Birth Place she needed to take a trip to the pediatrician right away to get checked out. Everything was fine and she only lost a couple of ounces from her birth weight in the first few days.
| Thanks for the bear jacket Jane Odell! It was cold outside in December. |
The first weekend after Aurora was born we got a visit from Aunt Shelley, Uncle Kevin, and cousins Ayden and Owen. Aunt Shelley was a baby hog and spent as much time as possible with our little lady.

After Aunt Shelley and Uncle Kevin left we had a visit from Mamaw Lynda and Pawpaw Tony. I am a horrible daughter-in-law and we didn't get a single picture with Mamaw Lynda but here is one with Pawpaw Tony.

We also made a trip out of the house when Aurora was just 5 days old for our newborn photos. It was a long process and Aurora decided that after 4 days of doing nothing but sleeping she would be fussy and wide awake for her photo shoot. Thank goodness that our photographer, Chi, was so patient with her. Aurora also pooped on the blanket twice!

Once the umbilical cord fell off we gave Aurora her first bath. She seemed to enjoy the warm water but did NOT like getting out of the bath wet into the cold air... let's be honest, nobody likes that.
For Christmas we had a visit from Aurora's Great Uncle Allan who drove up from Baton Rouge. He had a great time meeting his great niece and hogged the baby just as much as Aunt Shelley did when she was here. He was also nice enough to take lots of pictures for us during his stay.

Christmas eve we attended church at the local Lutheran church in Goose Creek. Aurora made it about half way through before she started to cry and needed to go home and eat. But she did have an excuse to dress up in her "First Christmas" dress that Whitney Parks gave her. Thanks Whitney!

Aurora's first Christmas was a quiet one at home with our family. She got a lot of very lovely presents from friends and family and made a good haul on "First Christmas" ornaments to decorate our Christmas tree for years to come!
| Aurora got to wear her santa sleeper that she got from Emily Scism! Thanks Emily! |
| Great Uncle Allan stole the baby again! |
| Daddy made everyone biscuits and gravy from scratch for Christmas morning breakfast. |
| Opening Christmas presents one handed is not an easy task... |
| Bryan did a great job playing santa and handing out everyone's gifts. |
| Three generations of "Lenhardt" women... look out world! |

| Finally, some quiet time with daddy! |
After Great Uncle Allan left Uncle Erik and Claire came for a visit to celebrate new years. We had no special plans for new years this year (sort of like every year actually, we're not big on new years celebrations) and momma went to bed pretty early that night. But the visit from Erik and Claire was lots of fun. Claire spent a lot of time with Aurora and had her own signature baby rocking motion down that worked like a charm!

Once everyone left we were on our own in the house. Things have been going pretty well being that this is our first child and everything is a learning experience. But so far we've made it through the days and it's always nice when daddy gets home at the end of the work day. Aurora continues to grow and we can't wait for the next milestones!
| Thank you to Mamaw Lynda and Pawpaw Tony for the Christmas money that helped purchase this awesome Pack'n'Play. Baby girl loves the vibration! |
| Spending just a little more time with Grandma Newman before they left. The light was too bright for Aurora so she covered her eyes. |
| Happy girl when she's sleeping. |
| We have a morning person on our hands! She's all smiles when she wakes up in the morning. |
| Growing like a weed. Aurora shows off her new 0-3 month size clothes. |
| Aurora's first nap in her crib. She did pretty well for her first time. |
| Daddy loves to play with Aurora. |
| Daddy's also good at getting Aurora to settle down and sleep. |
| She'll only fit in daddy's lap like this for a short period of time. |
| So adorable when she's sleeping. |
| Sporting our cute headband before a trip out for some shopping. |

Very nice. Thank goodness Uncle Allan took pictures. It is so surprising how fast little babies grow. Love to you all. Grandma Newman
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful update. Thank you for sharing the pictures with everyone. They grow so fast! And I'm glad you like the sleeper, nothing beats a sleep and play that's easy to get on and off!
